    1. An Oracle. The word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrach and will rest upon Damascus. For to the Lord belongs the capital of Aram, as do all the tribes of Israel;

    2. Hamath also, which borders on it, Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.

    3. Tyre has built itself a rampart, and heaped up silver like dust, and gold like the dirt of the streets.

    4. But now, the Lord will strip it of its possessions and hurl its wealth into the sea, and it shall be devoured by fire.

    5. Ashkelon shall see it and be afraid; Gaza too, and shall writhe in anguish; Ekron also, because its hopes are withered. The king shall perish from Gaza; Ashkelon shall be uninhabited;

    6. a mongrel people shall settle in Ashdod, and I will make an end of the pride of Philistia.

    7. I will take away its blood from its mouth, and its abominations from between its teeth; it too shall be a remnant for our God; it shall be like a clan in Judah, and Ekron shall be like the Jebusites.

    8. Then I will encamp at my house as a guard, so that no one shall march to and fro; no oppressor shall again overrun them, for now I have seen with my own eyes. The Coming Ruler of God’s People

    9. Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem! Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

    10. He will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war-horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall command peace to the nations; his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.

    11. As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.

    12. Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.

    11. So then, remember that at one time you Gentiles by birth, called “the uncircumcision” by those who are called “the circumcision”—a physical circumcision made in the flesh by human hands—

    12. remember that you were at that time without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

    13. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

    14. For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us.

    15. He has abolished the law with its commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new humanity in place of the two, thus making peace,

    16. and might reconcile both groups to God in one body through the cross, thus putting to death that hostility through it.

    17. So he came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near;

    18. for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father.

    19. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God,

    20. built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.

    21. In him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord;

    22. in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God.

    12. As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

    13. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

    14. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

    15. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.

    16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.

    17. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Rules for Christian Households

    1. When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples

    2. and said to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it.

    3. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ just say this, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.’”

    4. They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it,

    5. some of the bystanders said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?”

    6. They told them what Jesus had said; and they allowed them to take it.

    7. Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it.

    8. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields.

    9. Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!

    10. Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

    11. Then he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple; and when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve. Jesus Curses the Fig Tree
